in South Asia

RESOLUTION PASSED ON SAARC CHARTER DAY, DHAKA-8TH DECEMBER, 2010

UNIFEM and SEWA organized a Conference, “Women Work & Poverty “on Homebased Workers of South Asia’, in New Delhi, in Jan 2007. The key objective of Conference was to advocate for bringing the benefits of growth to the homebased workers in the five countries in South Asia, in order to lift them out of poverty. Specifically, the workshop deliberated on issues of policy for the homebased workers; fair trade; social security and building voice and organizations. 

A South Asian Regional Plan of Action was drafted in the Conference of “Women Work & Poverty “
